Updates on HealthCare
As of today, June 27th, the vote for the Senate Healthcare bill has been delayed until after the July 4th break. This provides additional time for you to contact your Senator and let them know your thoughts and concerns about the future of healthcare in our country. The Senate plan as it stands now makes significant reductions in Medicaid spending, moves Medicaid into a per-capita block grant formula and sets formulas for future increases based on inflation. Under the current Medicaid Formula, States are guaranteed a percentage match for every Medicaid dollar they spend. Obviously, moving to a block grant is a significant change that concerns everyone in the disability field. There are many unanswered questions and we encourage you to contact your legislators. It's important that they hear from you in the next few days. The Disability Community will be most heavily impacted by this legislation; make your voice heard.
